Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012: call for applications

Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012Are you a young person looking to change your community? Or, do know youth activists between the ages of 18 – 24?

The British Council is seeking youth activists to participate in the Global Changemakers youth network Euro-Africa Summit which will take place from 24-30 June 2012 in Brussels, Belgium.
 
The summit will bring together 60 young social entrepreneurs, community activists and volunteers from both continents for a five-day event of training, workshops and capacity building with parliamentarians, experts and facilitators, as well as visits to organizations in Brussels.

This event will connect young people from Europe and Africa and serve as a platform to exchange knowledge, ideas and best practices but also improve their ability to design and deliver projects as well as their knowledge, insight and exposure to key economic, political and social issues in and between Africa and Europe.

Interested young people should be aged 18-24 in June 2012, have a proven track record of social entrepreneurship, community activism or volunteer work, possess a strong African connection and good spoken command of English. Those who meet these criteria are strongly encouraged to apply!

Applicants must submit a written form and a two-minute video reflecting on their previous community work and how their plan to contribute to the wider network if selected.

Global Changemakers will cover costs for transportation, accommodation and meals.
