Setting the Way Forward – International Volunteer Day 2011 in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the spirit of the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers and the 15th anniversary of the UNV programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UNV Field Unit is proud to launch their new report of civil society and volunteering -‘Seeking the Way Forward: Civil Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina’. 

We are thrilled that Mr. Yuri Afanasiev, United Nations Resident Coordinator for UN operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and special guest Ms. Olga Devyatkin, Portfolio Manager, Europe and CIS, UNV Headquarters will be joining us to launch this report, and mark International Volunteer Day 2011’ - Elizabeth Siebenmann, UNV Programme Officer, UNV programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Providing an overview of the key characteristics of and challenges facing the civil society sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this report reflects a synthesis of and critical reflection on previous reports and assessments of civil society, associational life and volunteering in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

More importantly, ‘Seeking the Way Forward: Civil Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina’ sheds light on the key role that volunteers and voluntary contributions play in the overall functioning and effectiveness of civil society organizations and civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
